Is it mandatory to debate with obvious non believers on a Christian Tribe? And are there any tribes available that are open and closed at the same time? Jesus didn't always spend his time contending with the contentious, he'd seek refuge with his disciples.. what's your thoughts?

  • id say it depends on whether it is actually a debate or whther the person is just looking to waste your time.

you could call Christian Talk open and closed at the same time=
the occasional wacko comes thru, but since i am online so often, they get deleted fast- that and other things i do, and C also keeps tabs on it big time keep it mellow enough the tribe is open.

at this point this tribe is sorta the underground i guess, since it is moderated members.

    at any rate, really,
NO i don't see how Jesus would expect us to argue with someone who's mind is already made up against us.

just love them and pray for them, and ignore the nonsense.

    • Good question.

Like any other discussion/debate, I state my point. When it's obvious it won't go anywhere, I do shut up. Otherwise it's frustrating for both of us.

Mostly tho, it's not a very good witness; rather than be seen as just like the other person (argumentative or whatever), we're called close-minded fanatics, pushing our 'religion' and what-have-you.

People I work with know I'm a Christian; with one lady, we've had to agree to disagree on a number of things as it leads nowhere. Nothing anyone ever will say on this earth will change her opinion--partially because she won't listen long enough for anyone to get a whole thought out!

So now I will say "you know I disagree, let's not go there" with a smile of course! It seems almost an unspoken rule; we each get about two comments then we let it go. She usually has to have the last word, but that's okay.
